The Hamilton Crescent XI travelled to Kilmarnock to take on undefeated league leaders Kirkstyle.
Captain Chris Ross lost the toss and was put in to bat. A poor start saw Hamilton Crescent lose a wicket in the first over and several more in quick succession. At 37-5 things looked grim for West, and the Kirkstyle boys surely felt another easy win was in hand.
However it was not to be. Sandeep and Kinshuk set about a rebuild and put on a excellent partnership that took Hamilton Crescent well past the 100 mark and cooled the jubilant atmosphere in the Scott Ellis Recreation Park. Sandeep made it to 50 before skying one, and Kinshuk fell the very next ball to an excellent catch.
This left Hamilton Crescent with overs to bat but few wickets in hand. No problem for McNulty and Kanukolanu. Another excellent partnership saw West up to near the 250 mark before McNulty was retired. Nitin ended the innings on an excellent 55*.
After tea and a heavy rain shower Hamilton Crescent took to the field once more. The second innings never really got going with Kirkstyle playing for the draw and rarely playing a shot in anger. Kinshuk and Karaoke superstar Ross Wilson bowled well and picked up a wicket each but disciplined batting meant West struggled to make inroads.
A poor display in the field with 7 dropped catches supported Kirkstyle in their rearguard effort to see the game out. They finished the game 124-4 allowing Hamilton Crescent to take 8 of the 10 available points but disappointed not to take the win.
