New Trainer appointed -- new Sunday Bluebloods team organised (separate article later this week).

The fun started last night .......

A guy walks into the psychiatrist’s office wearing only clingfilm for shorts.
The shrink says “Well I can clearly see your nuts.”

Boom boom!!

Training is upon us at last but, for sure, you have all been keeping fit in the gym and the pre season Road Runs have been well attended --- which is just as well because the First team have a game on Saturday 10th August against Bromleians in the Robin Gonzalez Cup.

Last night at The Club – over 40 players met our new coach Joe Horlock. Joe is no stranger to WWFC as he was coaching the Under 18’s last season and has a Eufa B Licence.

I know that you will all give him a warm welcome and help him get accustomed to his new role. This season Joe will be supported by Oli Green, Steve Cotton, Sam Kemp, Neil Linter, Gibbo, PJ, Cuzza and Jurgen Klopp in those weeks that Liverpool haven't got a game.

Make a big effort to attend all the planned train sessions as the season starts on September 7th for the First team and the 14th for the other teams and pre season games are in the offing.

Joe has promised me that he will get The Two Joes fit (Ivory and Kempy) – at the moment both of their fathers are fitter than them BUT I hear that both are on the “comeback” trail.

WHAT’S NEW AT THE CLUB??
1. Retiring Chairman, John Uwins, who has worked tirelessly for the Bluebloods for 30 years has arranged for a new trophy cupboard and it’s up to you guys to fill it sharpish. Last Thursday we won our first silverware when Sammy D skippered the cricket team who won a close game against Hayes (Kent) CC and received the Brown- Cotton Cup. Hayes scored 178 but Paul Jennings gave us a great start with 68 and Mark Trevatt, Joe Kallas, Adam Freeman and Ben Linter chipped in with double figure scores. We ran out winners by 3 wickets on the hottest day of the year – thanks to Stu Edicott at Hayes for hosting this annual Cup match and to The Shoe for Managing the Blueblood squad.

2. The eagerly awaited AGM will confirm a new Chairman. He’s no stranger to the club as he has played for us all through his illustrious career. Neil Linter, in addition to being the original renderer of “The Wickham Player” played an enormous number of times for the AFA and SAL representative sides. He captained the First team for many seasons and was an important cog in the all conquering 80’s squad who won the SAL Division One title 6 times in the 1980’s. Neil also managed the First team and Under 18’s.

3. Chris Tookey has taken over as Manager of the Reserves as Oli Green has resigned due to work commitments which will take him out of the country for significant periods of time. Thanks to Oli for all his work with various, very successful, sides in recent years. Oli will still be involved with training.

4. Chris Hall will manage the Threes in their quest for a third consecutive title – Chris Tookey took the Threes into the Intermediate Section two seasons ago and won Division 4 then Division 3 – a terrific performance by him and his squad. Hally will be up for adding Division Two to the list of titles already in the bag.

5. The Fours will be jointly managed by Michael Parker and “Jumping Joe” Rahilly – Steve Cotton has stepped down to concentrate on smiling and coaching.

6. Joe Shorter and Matt Connor are standing down in the Fives as Joe is intent on taking his goal scoring prowess into higher sides and Matt will concentrate on getting into the attacking half of the field this season. Thanks boys – another great season behind you so you go out as Champions. Watch this space for a New Appointment.

7. The Sixes still have the Dynamic Duo of Chris Jones and Tom “You’ll never beat” Pardon in charge. Thanks and good luck boys – this is the hardest side to manage and you have our full respect.

8. The Sevens/Vets still have Geoff Airey in charge and hopefully will be playing in the right Cup Tournament this season – going up 2 levels last season was clearly nonsense.

9. After his outstanding work on the pitches at Corkscrew Hill, Paul Kemp has been made Chief Inspector of Bromley and West Wickham Allotments Trust which is a big honour for Kempes Senior. The Council were impressed with his knowledge of all types of tree leaves and how to fill in badger holes whilst full of Guinness. This appointment will not interfere with his work at Corkscrew Hill or his attendance at The Jolly Woodman in Beckenham.

10. Dave the Barman has again failed to make the West Indies cricket side – the selectors said they would need to reduce the length of the Test Match pitches to 14 yards to make Dave’s bowling effective SO Dave will continue to run the bar with his cast of beauties.

And that’s not all --- some bad news.
My friend drowned in a bowl of muesli this morning!!
A strong currant pulled him in.
