Well the football season is drawing to a close and the winners and losers are being sorted. I was back in the UK last month and managed to catch the Vets cup final and see them lose narrowly to a very experienced higher placed Vets team full of ex professionals. Vets goalie Steve Foster (lil bro of Big Foz) was adjudged to have brought down the oppo centre forward and apart from some close efforts from corners we weren't able to get back in the game. A great effort from the over 40s vets and good to see the Vets establish themselves in league football for the first time this season.

Unfortunately the mood in the Foster household was not improved the following week when the 1st team were knocked out of the AFA senior cup by Wandsworth Borough. Once again Old Parks was not a happy hunting ground for the 1s and maybe Big Foz needs to invest in a green double decker bus to bring back happier memories in the cup at Parks.

Plenty left to play for in the league though and I'm sure the teams would value as much support as possible for their final run-ins.

Whatever the outcomes I am sure that there will be lots to celebrate and talk about at the senior football club dinner which is taking place on Saturday 17th May. Look out for more information and a proposed new format and menu from renowned Irish chef Tom K.
