Old Ruts batted well and took advantage of a short boundary on one side very well. A few too many wides and no balls from our team, but otherwise good bowling from all and fielding was excellent including Harry behind the stumps (good vocals too). Old Ruts ended up on 116 for 4 from their 15 overs. Callum Brown from the under 12s probably the standout bowler.

Batting response was good - both Max Corney and Alex Tovey (2 other under 12s) got us off to a good start. Alex got to 40 not out and a valiant effort from Adam Crossland (35 not out) almost got us there - just 9 short (107 for 5) in the end as some batsmen came and went chasing down an ever increasing run rate. Brilliant running from all batters really helped

Old Ruts got worried as the match progressed and only bowled and batted a few players - pleased we gave everyone a go and got so close. Boys should be proud against very good opposition. Many thanks to Colin Smith for umpiring so well and for all the parents for getting up so early and being on time - and big thanks to the 3 under 12s who did themselves and the club proud

Time and place
The plan is to play at our main ground in Poplar Road, Merton Park, London SW19 3JS parking is available on site or on the street (no charges on the bank holiday). The match will start at 9.30 am, so we should be at the ground about 9 am.
Spectators
I presume you are aware of the current guidance from the ECB:
"Spectators are not currently permitted at Step 2. This does not apply to carers for people with disabilities, adults needed to supervise under-18s in a safeguarding role or patrons attending the venue for hospitality. Where it is necessary for them to be present, supervising adults should not mix with others from outside their household or support bubble."
As per the ECB Covid guidelines and if necessary we welcome parents attending matches to supervise their children (but ideally no more than one adult per child) we would ask that you do not mix with others outside your household or support bubble. Social distancing must be maintained at all times.
We will be taking an attendance record (including contact details) off all those staying at the match for the purposes of NHS Test and Trace and ask that all parents and helpers co-operate with this.
COVID precautions
All players should bring their own sanitiser and sanitise or wash their hands on arrival and before leaving the ground. There are toilets. ECB guidance is that players sanitise every 6 overs, we'll agree a format for that in advance but if you could please line up a parent on your side to assist one of ours in distributing sanitiser around the players and umpires during the match, I'd be grateful.
Refreshments
Players (and parents) should bring their own water and snacks. Our bar will be opening later in the day but definitely not at the start of the game so not sure if it will be available before the end for table service outside
Other match info
We have a different set of rules for the cup game to get our heads around. I have not got my head around these yet. Hopefully our team will be up on Playcricket at some stage before then but not sure if we will have someone scoring electronically yet.
