On a beautiful Sunday morning at Brownacres our colts took on opponents Camberley. After two narrow defeats there was a great deal of optimism amongst the team.
We started well in the field, regularly taking wickets. Alfie O got 2 in his first two balls whilst Oscar got another brace in one over. Young Zach and Ryan Binnie hit much better lengths, newcomer Callum got a wicket and showed promise whilst Ryan Bradley took his obligatory innings catch and narrowly missed out with a spectacular attempt on another. Our undoing was the once more the extras conceded which will undoubtedly improve with practise. Camberley finished on 254.
In reply our boys batted solidly, losing far less wickets than our opponents, but couldn't get bat on ball regularly enough. Tighter lines bowled by Camberley meant fewer extras and though there was a sterling last wicket effort by the two Ryans we eventually finished 6 runs short on 248.
