The Vandals travelled to Bushy Park for Sunday morning' game against Hampton Wick.
Short on players, the V's called up school friend Jack Lyons and U9 starlet Zach Powell. Vandals again won the toss and fielded. They soon set about the hosts with Oscar Powell taking a wicket in the first over and then completing a run out in the fourth. Callum Gordon got in on the act with a wicket in his first over whilst Alfie Spiers second over saw two Hampton batsman getting their furniture disturbed. Zach settled in nicely with two tidy overs and Alfie O Hanlon got a well timed wicket to see the hosts finish with a total of 292 on a very quick outfield.
Two Powell's opened the innings - something the main club need to take note of - and got off to a blistering start. Oscar, in particular, was punishing on anything short whilst young Zach looked to rotate the strike to his senior partner. Their partnership of 31 in 4 overs was by far the best so far this season with Oscars 23* also the top score.
More solid batting followed from the V's, Callum and Flynn finding the boundary and Alfie Spiers making a well controlled 10*.The solid Ryan Bradley saw the good ship Vandals home with some sensible batting with his partner Jack Lyons. Jack finished with a well made 10* on his debut, we hope to see more of him in future games.
This was a terrific performance from the boys. To go the whole innings without losing a wicket is testament to their concentration. Hopefully there is more to come this summer.
