Top of the table clash....

So another cold Saturday morning can only mean one thing…. another netball match and with Lizzi en-route to the sun, sea and sand of St Lucia this meant a few changes to last week’s line up. Jo returned from her holiday in Jamaica and took up the GS spot (those rum cocktails and all that sunbathing now only a distant memory) and Anna moved back to her old stomping ground of GD in place of Lizzi.

A shaky start as the new combination in defence got used to playing in the circle together and the defence of Oxshott B using the tactic of triple marking Lucy out of the circle making feeding the ball in to the shooters difficult. Although a bit more settled in the 2nd quarter it was obvious the vandals were focusing on the president’s lunch which was following the match, and this led to throwing some turnovers away. A 2 goal lead at half time saw a few changes made by captain Kate (aka Mourinho) and the team re-took the court with Jo coming out to GA and Lucy switching in to GS. A much better third quarter saw the team feed ball after ball in to the shooting circle with Lucy and Jo sinking the goals and turnovers in defence led to a healthy 10 goal lead moving in to the final quarter. With the delicious smells of the presidents lunch wafting out the clubhouse the team worked hard to ensure a good win and do the president proud!

Great captaincy skills by Kate proving she deserves her nickname and a great team effort all round, final score 32-49 to Vandals and this game marked 2 years of being undefeated for the team so brilliant achievement girls.
