With Katie still injured, Vandals U13 team stepped court with just 7. They had a steady start, and were focusing on playing steadily and timing their drives.
Surrey Heath Bees came out fast, and took a 4-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.
However, a quick team talk saw Vandals step up their defence. With shouts of ‘arms up’ and ‘tight tight’ from the sidelines, the U13 girls really pushed Bees and made it hard for them. They weren’t sure what to do, but found a few lucky gaps in the defence.
Bees continued to keep the lead at 12-2 at the end of the third quarter, but Vandals didn’t go down without a fight. They dig deep and found more pressure to pile on Bees, they started working together on their timing and driving.
The final quarter was Vandals, and the U13s kept a clean sheet defensively. A testament to how hard they worked all through the game. Sadly it wasn’t quite enough to overturn the goals from the previous 30 mins.
A perfect example of fight and determination. They listened well to each other, and a huge shout out to Evie who played up from the U12 team.
Next time, we’re going to start with the same ferocity we finished with!!!
