Despite difficult times the rugby section push forward with important fundraising for the section

Dear Vandal,

Firstly, I hope this message finds you fit and well and coping with the current situation. I am sure that not having any rugby just adds to the many difficulties that everyone is facing.

I wanted to let everyone know what a group of your committee have commenced and will continue to develop in readiness for when we are able to get to our club once again.
For some time now we have known that we need to ‘up our game’ with respect to sponsorship.

The rugby section and club cannot develop and grow in the manner we would like, just with membership subscriptions and bar takings alone. Our costs continue to increase and incomes are falling. For too long we have been reliant on some fund-raising activities and the generous support of a small group of loyal supporters to keep us in the black.

This may appear to be a strange time to be seeking income from outside business, but we think it essential that we are ready as soon as it Is possible to return to normal.

In order to attract the type and level of sponsorship that we believe that we can achieve, we need to overhaul our website content, improve and coordinate our communications and enhance our media channels and branding.

Over the coming weeks and months I hope that you will see the many developments as they are rolled out. We have a small team getting this up and running but if you have the skills and knowledge to assist in this initiative, we would love to hear from you.

We want to be in the position of attracting the sponsors and advertising that you see at many clubs. We will also be producing a club magazine.

These are strange and difficult times for all of us but we hope that these initiatives will ultimately be of benefit to us all.

Please follow the link below and distribute as widely as possible, especially within the younger community

Stay safe

Ken Sewell
(WVRFC Chairman)
