Vandals Rugby committee is delighted to announce the appointment of Damian Porter as Head Coach for 2019-20 season.

In May 2019, Vandals announced the appointment of Chris Dodd as head coach. Unfortunately after Chris Dodd accepted the position he then changed his mind 3 weeks prior to the start of preseason. Disappointedly Chris was also not very forth coming with his reason to why he would not take up the position.

After the disappointment of Chris we move on and the rugby community came to our aid. After contacting various Surrey and Middlesex RFU coaches and RDO’s one name kept being mentioned as a fantastic coach that maybe available and that would be a prefect match for the club. The Rugby committee is please to announce that we got our man. Damian Porter has taken over as head coach as of July 2019.

Damian comes to Vandals with a wealth of experience, He is a RFU Level 3 coach joins from London Irish, having spent the last 8 seasons developing Coaches and players in both their Amateur section, most recently with the Wild Geese in RFU Nat2, and the junior Professional DPP Academy environments.

Damian also coached Middlesex RFU for 4 seasons and was part of the Wasps Junior Academy for 2 seasons before their move to Coventry.

Damian enjoyed a successful playing career with London Irish, Staines and Cobham, whilst also representing both Middlesex and Surrey in the County Championship.

He brings a wealth of experience and a sharp competitive edge to the squad, that together with our existing skills based approach and youth development will take this squad forward in the coming season.

Damian will be aided by a wealth of experience in Dave Hoade current Assistant Coach, Nigel Taylor Strength & Conditioning and 2ndXV Head Coach, Andy Jones Defence Coach and Roland Davies Skills Coach.

Please join us in welcoming Damian to Vandals, and we wish him all the best for the 2019-20 season.
