WHCC lost the toss and were put into bat on a damp wicket.
Only David Tibbs offered any resistance against some good, accurate bowling from Monmouth's bowlers, smashing 68 before being caught on the boundary in the last few overs.
There were contributions from Hopcraft (13), Reynolds (17) and Perrett (12) but we crumbled for 136 all out leaving 5 overs unused.
Although the batting was disappointing, WHCC's bowling performance was fantastic. Tom Salmon clean bowled the opener second ball of the innings to give Whitchurch hope. When Hopcraft took a catch off Daham soon after, we were right back in the game.
The two spinners Zaman and Reyolds bowled very economically, going for just 22 runs of 19 overs with 3 wickets falling.
In reality, we were 40-50 runs short with the bat, and Monmouth eventually crossed the line with 4 wickets and 3 overs remaining.
Despite the loss, it's still be a very good season for the firsts, led very well by Captain Tibbs. One derby game to go vs Lisvane. A win should spoil their chances of promotion!
