The season began with a bang as Wickersley piled on the runs.

The 1st XI Began the 2015 campaign at home to newly promoted Houghton Main hoping to get an early win under their belts.

El Capitano won the toss and decided to have a bat on a track that wouldn't look out of place in the middle of August. Opening up were Lundy and Mushy against a Wickersley old boy, Rob Jones, whom 3 balls into the game trapped Lundy LBW (0-1). Into the crease strode our very own walking talking fog horn, Johnny Younis. Unfortunately 6 balls into his innings he fell for 2 as he unluckily played-on trying to hook a short & wide one (4-2). The Skipper came in next hoping to steady the ship. An over or so later saw Mushy depart, being bowled by Houghton's overseas for 4 (8-3). Next in was new boy, Kammy Raikkonen with his 25kg helmet, and soon began to steady the ship. He built a fantastic partnership with the skipper, both reaching 50 runs before putting the accelerator down hitting some beautiful and powerful strikes for 6. Skip fell for a brilliant 76 with a partnership between them of 138 (146-4). Ken Donson arrived next and after a few unnatural defensive shots began to strike the ball well and continued to keep the run rate moving on reaching 66 before being bowled. (237-5) Johan was next and began building his innings with Edward Phillip Charles Prince Ellis after Kammy was removed for a fantastic debut innings of 84. (243-6)together they began sending the ball to all ends of the pitch, a 6 into the car park clipping dezzies car to the amusement of the fans. with an over left of the innings Johan was dismissed for 78 and prince Ellis was out for 39. The Green Army ended on 366-9 of 50 overs.

Tea report

ham,tuna,cheese,sausage rolls, and pizza. 4/10

Johan opened up with the new ball against Mr see the ball hit the ball and a few overs in got his man caught behind for 18.
Iftikhar also opened and his lime and lemons bowling paid dividends as he took 3 wickets in the game and took 2 in 2 much to the disbelief of jonesy who may still be slowly walking of the pitch now!
Haughtons overseas battled on lonesomely getting 80 before being stumped to mushy now famous moon ball.

pick of the figures Mushy 7-1-21-4

A great first game and stamped a real signal of intent for this season.

next up Darfield away. hopefully another 7 and we go Marching on.
