Wick showed no mercy to todays visitors English Bicknor finding the back of their net eight times and only conceding one in reply. On a rain-soaked afternoon, both teams came out to play football on what was an immaculate prepared pitch. Wick were rampant from the start and missed some early chances, but their first clear opening came after 9 mins when a well struck Mike Hardiman shot hit the Bicknor crossbar. Although restricted to the odd break, Bicknor did open up the Wick defence on 22 mins, but Wick’s Keeper, Ash Wintle made a great block to deny Bicknor’s striker, Blaine Smith. Wick continued to create chances, but were wasteful in front of goal and not testing Bicknor’s keeper Craig Edwards.

The opening goal for Wick came on the 36th minute Mike Hardiman stroking the ball home following a Jordan Yeo corner. Wick continued to dominate the remaining part of the 1st half, and could have doubled their lead but Rob Moore blasted over from inside the 18 yard box. HT: Wick 1 – 0 Bicknor.

A minute into the second half the Wick doubled their lead Rob Moore slotting home after Bicknor keeper Edwards spilled Harris’s shot. Wick were starting to apply even more pressure and 4 minutes later Luke Lecrass then made it 3-0 from another Jordan Yeo corner. With the Bicknor goal in peril and Wick’s forward line in control, on 57 minutes Ben Harris’s shot beat Edwards to make it 4-0.

It became 5-0 in the 62nd minute when Rob Moore headed his second from a Jordan Yeo cross. English Bicknor did eventually get on the score sheet on 65 minutes when an innocuous cross from Liam Davies evaded everyone and ended up in the back of the Wick net.

Mike Hardiman netted his second to make it 6-1 after 71 minutes. Then Joe Thomas came off the bench and should have scored with almost his first touch but Edwards saved. Thomas did however make up for that miss in the 77th minute when he drifted into the box to hit his shot into the far corner after a through ball from Mike Hardiman. Hardiman completed his hattrick in the 78th minute with a crisp shot from just inside the box after good work from 17 year old Henry Sady.

This was the final goal, but Wick continued upto the final whistle with relentless pressure on the Bicknor’s goal, but Edwards was not to be beaten again and made three further saves to ensure the scoreline didn’t reach double figures. A great around performance from Wick with the full time score ending 8-1.
