Mossley continued their perfect start to the new season with a 2-1 win at Widnes.
Widnes started well but a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal let them down, with Dale Latham making a series of saves to deny Jordan Barrow and Ben Wharton.
But Mossley took the lead against the run of play after 23 minutes through Anthony Brown, whose initial shot was saved by Owen Wheeler but the ball rebounded off the Mossley man and into the net.
Substitute Sewa Marah made it 2-0 midway through the second half, turning away expertly from the challenge of RIver Humphreys to fire home.
Wharton pulled a goal back to set up a tense finish but Mossley held on for all three points.
