In its first instalment we asked 1st XI spin bowler and batsman Ben Shipp to create his ultimate Oaktree cricket player. Ben has had to select one player based on the following categories;
Batting
Bowling
Fielding
Captaincy
Fitness
Mindset
This is the player that Shipp came up with.
Batting - Joe Murfitt
He struck two tons this year and can play all around the ground. Based on last year alone an easy selection
Bowling - Conor Logan
A tough one, but he has the most skill, tricks and variation to his bowling.
Fielding - John Falconer
Different players have different strengths in different areas. All-round though I'd go for John. Safe hands on the boundary, a good arm, good pick up and is more than adequate behind the stumps. A safe selection.
Captaincy - Lee Newton
The best captain I've played under at Wilburton. A winner, he was determined and always driven to play his best
Fitness - Paul Dewey
He's rapid, could run quick singles for days and even when he seems tired carries on running. An easy choice.
Mindset - Tom Walker
Very forward thinking, he always has a clear plan and vision of where he wants to go. Unless he's just got out of course.
