Junior section goes from strength to strength

The highlight of the Mini & Junior season was the annual festival, held 27-28 April. The U11 & U12s matches took place on the Saturday in the most appalling conditions, with gales & driving rain, but even so the kids' spirits were high and quality rugby prevailed. The weather was much kinder on the Sunday for the U7, U8, U9 & U10 matches, when parents and kids had a great time and we were joined by Sales Sharks & Australia international player James O'Connor, who posed for photos with the young players and answered their questions. Over the 2 days, we hosted teams from 19 different clubs, including visitors from Ireland, Wales & Yorkshire, as well as our local rivals, with approximately 1300 young players and 1700 non-playing spectators and family members. We send out a very big thank you to the organisers, but in particular to those on car park duty and the bar and kitchen staff.

U10
Our season was book-ended with tours to Ireland, with the U11s visiting Blackrock & Greystones in early October and then the U10s’ and U12s’ trip in March to play Terenure and Willow Park. We also attended the Lansdowne versus University College Dublin match, starring on the pitch as pre-game guests. ( See photo of U10s).

U14
The U14s had a mini-tour to Leicester at the beginning of April, enjoying a training session on the Saturday morning with the Leicester Academy followed by a thrilling game of rugby at Welford Road where Leicester Tigers played hosts to Exeter Chiefs, who comprehensively won the day. On the Sunday we visited Melbourne RUFC in Derbyshire, where our lads put in a spirited performance to come away with a strong win.

Colts
For representative honours, our Colts have been doing very well, with 3 players in the Cheshire U17s team: Cameron Lack (Captain), Reeve Davis & Louis Miles. Hopefully we’ll get to see them in the 1st XV in the not too distant future.

Don’t forget to invite your pals down to the club next season. We continue to grow but we’re keen to welcome new starters across all our age groups, from 5 years upwards. Check the website for age group contact details.
