A remembrance piece to club legend, Salmon, written by Matt Benwell (Badger)

On Saturday morning former club man and all round good guy Rob Williams-Lock, aka The Salmon, was found dead at his home. He was 47. Salmon joined the club circa 2002 and played regularly at the dons for the next few seasons. During that time he was capped for the Turks and Caicos Islands, much to his delight and much to the annoyance of then 1st XV captain and old school pal of his Benny Nightingale. He loved playing at the club and loved his moniker of "The Salmon" due to his leaping prowess at the lineout. He was hugely popular team-mate and one of my personal comrades from the time of the Mighty Threes. He stayed in touch with all his old club pals and would regularly attend reunions and lunches.

He was a diabetic and his last few years saw him battle with difficult mental health issues. It would appear that his untimely passing was from natural causes, which will be of some small comfort to his family. A post-mortem will be held in the next few weeks and if you need to know more please email me personally for any updates I may have.

Salmon leaves behind three sons, Dylan, Charlie and Jack - with Charlie showing more than some promise at Maidenhead RFC.

Personally I shall always remember his enthusiasm as a team mate and an outstanding laugh wherever he could be found. As a club we send out deepest condolences to his parents, the boys and their mother Jo, who must be going through an unbelievably difficult time. Our President Jim will be writing to the family on our behalf.
