Its going to be epic

Well hello there Ye Mighty Dons!

This is it! The big weekend we have been waiting for - and has long been forecast as a real crunch time of the season.
The last 1st XV home fixture.
Wimbledon sitting second in the table.
Three points behind the leaders.
Which is Sutton and Epsom.
All to play for.
Presidents lunch.

Is there more to say? Well actually there is - it is also, sadly, Shaun's last lunch as he and Hayley depart the clubhouse for pastures new. Let's come back to them after we run through the weekend's fixtures.

Only 2 men's sides play this weekend with the injury issues and the President's lunch, but the Ladies XV are playing on Sunday - so three senior games in total,

As mentioned the 1st XV play Sutton and Epsom at home with a 3pm kick off.
The 2nd XV travel to Cambridge to play at a 2.3opm kick off.
Sunday sees the Ladies XV play at home against Cullompton with a 2.30pm kick off.

I don't think I need to say this - but packed touch lines this weekend are a must!!!!!
Team sheets (as I have them) below.

Charity Auction.
With the presidents lunch tomorrow - there is a four ball to bid for Royal Wimbledon Golf Club. This is a seriously good prize and bids must be made to Chairman Wow in advance of tomorrow. This is in aid of the Injured Players Foundation - a great charity who have helped our own. For further info on their work read here.

JUST IN!!!
We've just had a fantastic auction donation from Richard Best, his company Breathingspace operates in partnership with Peter Winterbottom's cycling arm, Ride of the Legends.

On May 3rd, 2019 they are co-delivering the inaugural Rugby Business Network cycle ride at Horsham Rugby Club, see details in the link. It really does look like a great event

And are able to offer 2 VIP guest places to the event

Like our charity auction of the Golf at Royal Wimbledon we are happy to take bids by e mail today but the auction will take place over lunch tomorrow.

Shaun Doyle
As also mentioned - our beloved Club Steward Shaun, and his lovely other half Hayley are about to depart Beverley Meads for brewers-new. Chairman Wow has written the following to say our farewells:
As some of you may have already heard Shaun has decided that 2 years is enough for anyone to have to put up with us and he is off to pastures new early next month.

Shaun came to us at short notice, when we were in need and got stuck in from the start. He bought a much-needed professional presentation to our bar and has been ever popular with our members. His cooking skills are renowned, and some dishes are now the stuff of legends and we shall never see their like again. With the lovely Hayley at his side (you're punching way above your weight Shaun you do know that, don’t you) he has overseen an untold number of club and private functions, been the collector of lost gumshields & other assorted kit on a Sunday and applied the drain plug when the waters threatened to overwhelm us. It’s a long story but don’t ask Shaun what he calls it btw.

This means the Presidents lunch will be Shaun’s swan song so do say bye and maybe stick a pint in t’ wood for him.

Thanks, so much Shaun and Hayley, it’s been an eventful couple of years but you leave us in a better place than you found us. You know where we are so don’t be strangers. In fact, I expect to see you as guests at next seasons President’s lunch. Now won’t that be a novel experience.

Good Luck to you both.

Being the professional that he is Shaun has even sourced his own replacement. Some of you will have met Ruth McKinney who has covered for Shaun’s leave a few times. We are confident she will make a great addition to our team. Ruth will be helping out on Saturday so say hello.

Seriously from all of us Shaun thank you so much for the last few years and we look forward to welcoming Ruth to the firm.

Right - that's enough from me. I am literally bursting with excitement. Tomorrow is going to be epic.

Big Love
