Good Day to You Ye Mighty Dons!

Yes - Mrs Badger and I are back and I return to my role as your humble scribe. We can now put the past error-strewn weeks of grammatical inaccuracies and unbelievable spelling behind us! Seriously though - many thanks to Chairman Wow for covering the comms in my absence.

Now - it would appear that we have been firing on all cylinders so let's get down to the nitty-gritty of last weekend!

Saturday saw the 1st XV take on Sidcup away in an enthralling match, if not for the scoreline but the over-excited referee it would seem. However the boys in the Claret and Blue came home 23-34 victors. Have a gander at the match report here.

Friday saw the 2nd XV travel to Rosslyn Park to play the Rosslyn Park Rangers (sounds a touch like a gay cowboy dance troupe to me - but there we go!) Unfortunately the wandering Wimbledon heroes came second in a classic of a match, by all accounts, losing 29-19. Onward and Upwards lads!

Those evergreen men of the Strollers, currently enjoying a wonderful recruitment period it is pleasing to say, welcomed our favourite neighbours Epsom and Sutton RFC to Beverley Meads on Saturday..... sorry I meant Sutton and Epsom. They get very cross when you say it the other way around...... ahem. Pleasingly the home side, even with at times 13 men on the pitch, (what is it with the refs at present?!) returned to the club house 27-0 victors. Oh joy.

Sunday saw our Womens XV travel to play Medway Ladies, a tough fixture. In a close run thing those in Claret and Blue returned home victorious 14-15! You can read up on who scored here.

Right - THIS WEEKEND. Its definitely lunch time. The 1st XV welcome Rochford 100 to the club this Saturday and they are the only other team in our league to go unbeaten. I am making a point of this early as it is vital we get a good full touch line to cheer on our boys and it should be a cracker! Now - as ever we are welcoming our guests with a lunch and we would like to get more of the players families involved. WAGS and Mums and Dads and other halves are all invited. Please speak to your families and get back to me before Thursday afternoon with the numbers you would like in.

Furthermore there is the added excitement of World Cup rugby on offer at the club - unless you are from Scotland..... snigger. If you want to catch the early game on Saturday then give Ruth a call at the club to let her know you are coming!!!

Ok - lets have a look at the upcoming events for your diaries:

Presidents lunch - Saturday Oct 26th
Wimbledon RFC Quiz - Friday 8th November - email social@wmrfc.com for tickets
City Lunch - Friday 29th November - £90 per ticket
New Years Eve Party - date is obvious - tickets £25
Dando Quiz - January 31st
Wooden Spoon Dinner - February 28th

Don't forget we will be selling Christmas Cards at the club very shortly so keep your peepers peeled for them!

Right that's enough from me. I'm off to try and work out what day it is and what time it is. Badgers are not designed for jet-lag.

Big Love

Badger
