Good Day to you Ye Mighty Dons!

Phew - 2020 has turned up and is in no mood for messing!
It wasn't the best weekend for the claret and blue results wise - but there is good in there - so read on.

On Saturday the 1st XV traveled to Sevenoaks where, even after a spirited fightback, they went down to only their second defeat of the season 24-16. The match report is here. Such is the nature of this very competitive league that this leaves the Dons in 3rd place - so your support on Saturday is key to rally the troops in a home fixture against Tring!

The 2nd XV traveled to Ampthill and I am afraid this one doesn't make for great reading wither, with our stoic chaps going down 68-14. I am sure all will be remedied this week on the training pitch!

Sunday saw the Womens XV travel to play Beckenham Ladies and a spirited game was hard fought. Out women fought hard but unfortunately went down 24-10, however there some great green sprouts - with U18 Abi making her senior debut with two tries and getting the players' player award for the match. The future is looking bright for our female section!

Finally - a bit of victory to stir the juices with the Strollers XV travelling to Old Ruts to play them away in a cup game (not a double points header as someone may have stated last week.....). This is a team they haven't beaten in the last four attempts of trying so it was going to be a big ask, especially when their 1st XV captain came on and stepped in at number 8....? However our lads were having none of it and in front of a large crowd ran in 19-45. Always try and end on a positive I say!

So there we go - not the easiest of reading but I am sure that will be the last mail like that for some time. Another full weekend of fixtures this weekend with all the senior teams out and the 1st XV, 2nd XV and Womens XV all at home. There will, as usual, be a supporters lunch on Saturday, at its usual great value, as we welcome Tring to Beverly Meads. Attendees to let me and/or John Woods know asap. Let's see how many family members we can see in attendance.

That's enough from me.

Big Love

Badger
