Hi Ho ye Mighty Dons!

Well the sun is shining down on Beverly Meads but by jingo there is a chill in the air! Let's warm the cockles with a little look at last weekend's fixtures!

Saturday saw the 1st XV welcome Sidcup to Wimbledon. The match report, which was avidly scribed by Terry Bagworth is heret - it was a cracking game. Sidcup entered the match very much "up for it" but the control and pressure extolled by the chaps in claret and blue proved just too much them with the Dons coming home 42-19. A great result which keeps the 1st XV in third place unchanged from last week but with a game in hand over the top two teams! This Saturday seez them play Rochford 100 away - so your support is needed. Start booking those trains and cars today!

The 2nd XV had a very tough ask in welcoming Rosslyn Park Rangers to Beverley Meads. Following the financial collapse of Old Elthamians after the death of their main funder, for which we send our deepest sympathies, many of the OE players have been looking for new clubs. In lieu of this a number of their former 1st XV players have moved to Rosslyn Park and were seen plying their trade for the Rangers on Saturday. Even with this - our boys in claret and blue put up a hell of a fight but it was a bridge too far with Rosslyn Park coming in 21-54 victors.

The Strollers also had a tough challenge on Saturday as for the first time this season they had a crisis for numbers. The ski season and injuries and work rotas taking their toll - they took to the park with only 12 men but still, as is the strollers way - very much up for the fight. However the youth and numerical advantage of Old Ruts did start to show and even following a late flurry from the men in claret and blue the final scoreline read 14-53 to the visiting team.

So another mixed bag - but this weekend sees the many teams travelling and a welcome return to action for the Wimbledon Womens XV.
This weekend also sees the kick off of the 2020 6 nations tournament. Now - all the games are on show at the club - so feel free to grab a pew at the altar of the Northern Hemisphere game in the comfort of your own rugby club. All ages and pets are welcome. If you wish to reserve an area give Ruth behind the bar a swift bell.

That's enough from me.

Big Love
