It's a beautifully sunny day and, as we all know, the sun always shines on Beverley Meads.... except when it rains - but let's not talk about that.
Anyway - a good set of results from last weekend - let's have a look at them.
The 1st XV travelled the long and weary journey to Bedford Athletic for a challenging fixture. The reports reaching homeward ears at half time suggested this could be an upset for the might men in claret and blue however they managed to prevail with a 31-40 victory. You can read the thrilling match report here.
The 2nd XV travelled to Cantebury to play their 2nd XV in another big match. It was another good result for Wimbledon with the boys coming home 22-27 victors.
The 3rd XV had a harder time of it travelling to Chobham to play their 2nd XV. In a bruising encounter that didn't reflect the heart shown by the Dons, the chaps went down 33-15.
The Strollers, a source of much cheer of late went up against the league leaders - Bec Old Boys 2nd XV. With a front row having a combined age of over 140 this was going to be a tough ask and so it turned out with the Strollers going down 53-14.
So an excellent combo of results and great to see all four mens' sides out again. Congratulations to all who wore the colours this weekend.
Now onto this weekend - we have a 1st XV home fixture so there will be lunch on Saturday. Please let me know your numbers for seating ASAP. Be great to have a full house and the food is thoroughly impressive. Injured players make sure you are down and do bring some pals along.... it is also worth mentioning it is Chairman Wow (John Wood's) birthday today - so we will be having a few bums on seats to help him celebrate.
Also there are some tickets left for the Wooden Spoon dinner on the 28th February. Do get your tickets bought NOW or you will miss out. This is a cause that has helped our club in many ways - and it is one we are very proud to be associated with. So let's get the house packed for that.
Ok that's enough wittering on from me.
Have a great week all!
