A cracking afternoon down at Beverley Meads

Wimbledon RFC Women's XV hosted Beckenham Ladies for their second home league game of the season. With a full squad of 22, and off the back of an exciting nail biter against Old Elthamians two weeks ago, the Women were raring to go and excited for the challenge. It was originally thought that the afternoon would be a rain fest for players, and what turned out to be a busy touchline, but instead we were treated to a mostly glorious afternoon. Beckenham started the fixture looking like the stronger team, scoring two tries within the first five minutes. But Wimbledon's women would not be defeated and staged an entertaining comeback to win the fixture 33-29. As coach, Niall MacSweeney said, every single player in the squad made a difference today; the team determination and team attitude is what made the difference between a win and a loss.

Congratulations to try scorers, Ellie, Alex and Em and captain, Gutti, who scored four conversions.

We welcomed two new players who played their first game for Wimbledon - Annabel Rice joins us from St George's University and Em Stone joined us from Rosslyn Park.
