Darlington Curtain Raiser in the Junior Cup

Darlington Curtain Raiser in the Junior Cup

Big chance to start season with a bang in a home cup tie

Season 2019-20 finally begins this Saturday with the usual opener being the 1st Round of the Junior Cup. County Cups were held in very high regard but lately less and less clubs have taken them seriously with many fixtures being moved to double headers in the season but not for us.

We welcome Darlington to Axwell View and they have a strong cup heritage going back years, they will be trying to take an early scalp and this is their opportunity if we don’t turn up ready to go.

Losing last seasons final to our neighbours Ryton was a tough one for our players but they got the taste and loved the whole experience so really fancy it this year.

Our squad has remained settled with a few out and a few in and training numbers have been good and with two decent results against DN1 opposition we are confident we can have another entertaining season.

David Lowes remains in the Captains berth and Head Coach Rollie Wills has appointed two assistant coach’s in Ben Archer (backs) and Chris Stewart (forwards and Saxons) so the training has been tough in preseason.

There is an air of expectation after last years great season so no pressure boys!

Welcome to our friends from Darlington today, we hope you enjoy your day and the best of luck. #COYV
