Lymm
Winnington Park R.F.C.
Sun 17 Feb 10:00 - Friendly Full time

A game of two halves!

Fantastic games and great effort by everyone and a new star player made his debut!

Lymm had two teams and it was decided to play 25 minute game per team.

Game 1: We had a great start by keeping the pressure up and lovely play by the team passing down the line - letting the ball do the work for Lucas to score first. The same happened again for Yacko to score try 2. The team were playing brilliantly and lovely to watch from the sidelines. Liam had a unlucky strong run forward but was pushed out of touch. We were doing great set up calls and coming up in a line! Rafa a new player making his debut game for Winnington Park after training with us for a while was showing what a strong runner he was. Our defence was strong and then a pass to Yacko to score try 3. Rafa fast footed forward - head held high and scored his first try (and that wasnt to be his last) . Tom & Millsey were being strong as a forward and another pass to Rafa then a brilliant offload to Lucas to score try 5. What a morning this was so far! A kick by Joe and a great chase paid off as we won the ball - always worth doing the chase! Fantastic play continued by all and working well as a team and a pass to Rafa to score try 6! Perhaps then we became complacent and a few missed tackles and Lymm got passed us to score! Again a big kick forward and Liam chased it and won the ball, a pass to Rafa to score try 7 and for him a hat trick!! Score 7/2
What a brilliant first half with everyone contributing but we need to remember to go lower in tackles - round the legs .

Game 2: Playing a different Lymm team and they seemed to be up on us much quicker. The ref was telling us for pushing in scrum. Our forwards seem to slack off and team panicking with the ball ! The pressure and atmosphere changed in this game with decisions made that seemed unfair and with an incident between ref and coaches, Head Coach Paul reigned in our players to say just rise above what is going on and focus on the game. Game continued and our attack was strong but a stronger Lymm team broke through and scored. 1/0 to Lymm

A fantastic game of rugby and the coaches were pleased with our player attitude and efforts by everyone but especially an initial nervous Rafa who played brillantly for his first game and without a doubt was our Man of the Match!
