Bricks + Mortar launch with Wirksworth branch
A new property business has launched in Wirksworth this week. Bricks + Mortar is a one-stop-shop of property-related services including estate agency, handyman services and interior design.
The premises were opened by Wirksworth Mayor Councillor Andy Jordan, together with the Chairman of Wirksworth Colts Football Club, Chris Whittall in a ceremony on Tuesday 4th June.
Every home that Bricks + Mortar sell leads to a £50 donation by the business to Wirksworth Colts. Chris Whittall stated “The financial and practical support being provided by Bricks and Mortar is a tremendous boost for Wirksworth Colts Football Club. Well over 200 boys and girls regularly train and play in teams from under 6 to right through to under 18s. Without the support of local business it would be difficult to achieve what we do. We look forward to developing a long and successful partnership with Bricks + Mortar”.
Bricks + Mortar are located at 10 Market Place in the heart of the town and have taken on the space formerly occupied by Wizard Works and before that, a bakers and the long-established butcher’s shop. The premises still retain the original meat chiller, pay booth and tiling but have been skilfully and sympathetically converted into a contemporary office space. Co-owner Lisa Bridge stated “It is very important to locals and to us that we retain the original features of this splendid property. We are thrilled to be a part of the Wirksworth community and the design and conversion we’ve done helps us to showcase a little of what we offer”.
Lisa has previously won national awards for her interior design and their handyman services include Lisa’s uncle – Martin Bradley – as the head of the team. Martin is a skilled joiner with 40 years’ experience and the company therefore offer more than simple estate agency.
As Carl put it “On day one, we had lots of locals popping in, which was great. After I’d explained what we do, one person said ‘Oh, so you’re estate agent-plus then aren’t you’. I really wished I’d thought of that succinct way of summing up what we do!”.
The company feel excited to be a part of the Wirksworth community. Their marketing agency The Point are 50% owned by a Wirksworth resident – Dawn Siddall - who together with Alex Moitt, have created all of the branding. Bricks + Mortar also launched a Facebook initiative to source a local photograph for use in their marketing. Kerry Keating won with a magnificent photo of the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway and received £100 to spend in Wirksworth businesses.
Bricks + Mortar also donate £100 for every house sale to the charity Me & Dee, who provide seaside holidays to seriously ill children and ex-servicemen and women. They are committed to becoming a key part of the local community whilst also offering exceptional customer service across a range of property services.
