Below are the 2012 averages with all clubs 1st & 2nd XI included, apart from Glazebury, Mere and Stretton. Once we receive Sretton’s averages we hope to confirm a player took 23 wickets at just over 4 in only 3 matches; this will create a new 1st XI record for Division 3

[b]In Division C, P Gray of Wirral set a new record when he picked up 29 wickets at just 5.48.

VIVIO CCCL NEWS

CHESTER-based company VIVIO, a top UK independent business to business telecommunications dealer, were revealed as the League’s new main sponsor at the CCCL annual meeting on Wednesday, January 23.

A packed house of full and associate member clubs at Bowdon heard Secretary Geoff Wellsteed report that a deal had been agreed with Vivio, who will replace Chapel Press, the League’s principal backers for the past four years.

More details will emerge as the 2013 season approaches, but the League will henceforth be known as the Vivio Cheshire County League and all clubs are asked to include this title in their publicity and correspondence.

The League now have a total of six sponsors: VIVIO (main), RedInsure (T20), Reader’s (Cricket balls), TailorMade Group (Over 40s), Canterbury Sports (Monthly performance awards) and new handbook printers Delmar Press

Since the AGM, Treasurer Andy Woods has indicated that he wishes to step down due to pressure of work at his Chester accountancy firm and private life issues. He will continue until a suitable successor is found.

Chairman David Humpage has issued the following statement: “The position of League Treasurer requires a person with knowledge of book-keeping and accountancy, who must have access to a computer and e-mail. The work should average out at no more than 2-3 hours a week over the year. Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to contact myself”.

The Chairman’s contact details are: tels. 0161 432 4670 (h); 01352 751 805 (w) or by e-mail on d.humpage7@ntlworld.com or DavidHumpage@FGWhitley.co.uk.

ASHTON ON MERSEY

For many years now the ladies toilets have been in dire need of a make-over. Thanks to grants from Biffa Award (£5,000) and the Manchester Airport Community Trust (£1,500) work is now complete, transforming the toilets into a modern and welcoming facility. The project has involved knocking down walls to use the former ladies showers / store room as toilets with the former toilet area becoming an extension to the entrance hall and a new store / club office

THE GROVES

The Groves seen some changes, both 1st & 2nd XI captains have changed, Mike Caulfield and Neil Powell respectively take over from Martin Flanagan and Jon Ball. The biggest change and biggest disappointment sees the junior section disbanded all togther. This in turn sees our Clubmark accreditation elapse for 2013, which is a major disappointment after all the hard work of Bob Newton and then Tony King. A big thanks to everyone that supported the accreditation process.
