On Saturday morning Wirral U14's played Sefton SFA in the Manchester cup semi final.
The game started and both teams had a fair possession of the ball. However Wirral were able to get the first goal of the game when George Nugent fired the ball past the keeper off a Luke Robinsons free kick. Wirral were able to hang on to the 1-0 lead going into halftime even with Sefton coming close to score towards the end of the half.
HALFTIME: Wirral 1-0 Sefton
After the break Wirral immediately got their second goal of the game when Liam Atherton was able to get down the right side of the pitch and swing the ball into Tommy Taffe's path to finish bottom corner. Sefton were then soon gifted a penalty from the referee which was converted to make it 2-1. Sefton then soon equalised when Wirral's defence let the ball bounce and the Sefton striker got in behind to score.
The game then went to extra time but neither team were able to score meaning that it had to be decided by penalties.
Both teams scored their first two penalties and also both missed the next two. So this meant that it all came down to the final penalty. Unfortunately for Wirral they missed theirs and Sefton converted theirs meaning Wirral are now out of the Manchester cup.
FULL TIME: Wirral 2-2 Sefton
