This would have been a great event, even with a touch rugby version of the game. But as hosts, Witham RUFC consulted with local authorities, health and safety advisors and Insurers. The over-riding response was that the event was not advisable. The number of guests expected from a variety of regions meant that ultimately the risks were far too high. It has therefore reluctantly been cancelled. If the regiment can find an alternative venue then the club wishes them every success.
