14 Trinnovantes arrived at East London with the usual good spirit.

Our hosts did explain why they weren't prepared to lend us a sub but all I heard was blah blah blah....

Anyway, they kicked off and the game was on. The first scrum showed they had a bigger pack but our boys can handle that. They also had a bit of a speedster on the wing and along with their extra man they took the lead.

We were under pressure early on but the tackling was awesome. Kevin 9-finger Hobden took down every bugger that came his way (you're not allowed to pin them down by the way Kev). Darren Smith impressed the crowd by making his traditional 20yard charge in a forward direction this time. It was a day for firsts as Ryan Logue managed an off-load. To be fair it was a great off-load to Steve Regan who also surged through a couple of tackles before looking for support.  Through came baby face Daz Chesson and the debut boy barged over the line to score.

Now the Easty Boys had a bit of a lump in the centres but Doulton Wells was in his face disrupting his progress. Unfortunately, that meant they just spun it out to the speedy winger and they were comfortably ahead.

Mark Viljoen thought they needed a bit of help so when he was scrabbling for a ball on the floor, he decided to just flip it up so the opposing chap didn't have to bend down. The chap only went and scored.

Late in the half, a bit of broken play led to a ruck on the right. I think Daz had gone for some gripe water as Darren Smith ended up as scrum half. As he recognised me he thought he'd better give me the ball. When I looked across, Ryan Logue was on the gallop so I gave him the pass and he was through. No need to pass, Ryan just leg it to the line. I slotted the easy conversion (I like those ones). I'll skip past the bit where I got a tad upset about being held in a headlock and head for the second half.

It didn't start well with Easty Boys extending their lead. However, we were giving them problems. Lucas Saville had a couple of charges and it took more than one defender to stop him each time. Sam Robinson was playing his first game for some time but you wouldn't know it as he dealt with everything that came his way. Half way through the half, Dave part-time Hollick had to hobble off. He'd had a good game in the back row. Jordan Smeegle Smee had been strong and stubborn as centre but went on the flank. Nobody knows why he had a tube of lube in his kit bag but that's smee. The Easty Boys almost felt bad about us going down to 15 so Darren Smith asked their speedy winger (who'd gone off for a rest) if he fancied giving us a hand.

East London tried a couple of chip and chases. One of them was probably going out of play so Antony Seymour gave it a hoof. Unfortunately he hoofed it over our line and they managed to score.

At a line out, Mark slapped the ball back. Daz collected and looped round making a beeline to their fly half. Just before contact he popped the ball to me. I handed off the lumpy centre before floating a perfect pass to speedy. He galloped through to score and Daz converted.

Late on, we were close to their line with some untidy play. Not sure if smee wanted to pick the ball up or Polish it but when he finally got hold of it, Steve Regan took it forward. As he got to the 5 meter line, Chris Jarman gave him a helpful shove over the line.

Daz was man of the match and joint tit of the week as he forgot that drop kicks have to hit the floor. The other joint title of the week was Mark Viljoen for his friendly assist.
