We lost our front row before the game and travelled with 13 players but all 13 stood tall.

It would be easy to say bollox we lost 51-0 what's the point of a match report. But if you looked at the young large fit and well drilled side we were up against, you would have expected a 3 figure defeat.
From the outset, brentwood were hitting our lines hard and off loading effectively. But we frustrated the crap out of them with every man prepared to put their body on the line to halt them. When they did open the scoring, it was through great rugby. Quick rucks released the backs who managed to create an overlap to score in the corner. They kept the scoreboard ticking over through the first half without ever bteaking our spirit. In fact, we had sevetal periods where we were on the attack but couldn't get through.
With Darren Smith dropped due to a football injury and Rodders out due to not understanding how stairs worked, Rich Miller slotted in as prop. He took on the kicking duties and was awesome throughout (except for his blonde moment I'll mention later. Max Basham hooked for most of the game. He hasn't done that in years but did an outstanding job. Tom Tiny Ray moved to prop and handled it brilliantly. This gives us a point for not going uncontested. Charlie and his second row partner Kyle (borrowed from ntentwood) had outstanding games, disrupting their possession and taking every opportunity to attack. Max had found a new recruit called Laurence and he slotted in brilliantly. Kevin Fingers Hobden made his long awaited return and worked off several american buffets. Dave Hollick is making a habit of lasting 80 minutes and was happy to take on whatever faced him. Lee Bywater was having lots of chats with their scrum half- he used to play with his dad back in the day. The Uni boys got joint man of the match partly due to their ferocious tackling, partly due to their ability to be everywhere and partly due to me not remembering which is David Sayers and which is Joe Wood. Brian (the cat) Ellis was dragged in at centre and was solid all game while Rob Bennett was filling gaps as full back and winger. Tit of the week was shared. When we had a penalty 8 metres out, not only did Rich decide to go for touch when we wanted to run it. But he promptly kicked it dead giving them a 22. So he drank the beer while rob got the dress for putting a tottenham hotspur watch in the valuables bag.
As i told the lads at the end, we came here 2 men down to face a younger and bigger side who have won every game they've played. We didnt shy away, we stood up and faced out challenge, earning a far better scoreline than could have been expected and the respect of the opposition. Emma treated a few of us but nobody was leaving that ptch. THAT IS WHY WE ARE THE MIGHTY SECONDS!
