Playing uphill in the first half, the muddy conditions made life tough for Witham but they attacked from the start. After several attacks, the ball was lost and the hosts kicked clear. A great chase saw them get near to Witham's line but it took a few phases before their fly half could get through to open the scoring. Billericay scored again and looked to be taking control of the game with their backs running well. But a brilliant steal by Chalie Williams gave Tyreek the chance to attack. When he was halted, Owen James scooped up the ball and drove over to score. Another 2 tries by Billericay gave them a 4-1 lead at the break. The second half saw Witham use the slope and conditions to their advantage. Early pressure enabled Owen James to score a further 2 tries before Braz Marcellin scored on his debut to level the score. Next was a stunning run by Daniel Grey. Taking the ball at full speed, he stepped inside and sprinted half the pitch to score and put Witham ahead. Witham's pack took us to the Billericay line and this time it was Maleli Hunter who benefited with a try. The last play of the game was a Billericay scrum near their own line. With Witham driving them back, the ball popped out and Jimmy Dines pounced to complete the scoring.
We know we have good players but today showed they are a good team. They worked together and worked hard to gain a well deserved win.
