witham suffered their first defeat of the season with a in compentent display against the team promoted with them last season and before this game were bottom of the league.
nick n=blue the home keeper did not have a real save to make throughout the game , as his defence dominated the game, and little was seen of the witham attack, it did not help witham cause as they gave away a free kick on the edge of the area after just three minutes from which NICK REEVES scored with a shot that took a wicked deflection off the town wall and gave keeper martyn guest no chance.
the vcd defence was on top throughout and witham team did not have a shot on target throughout the game, although they made many substitutions of the strikers after the break they could still not break down the home defence.
although there were also some good displays in the witham defence they could not stop vcd scoring a second goal when LEA DAWSON broke through and scored in the 87th minute and vcd had won their first game of the season , and witham great unbeaten start was over.
