witham were three goals to nil down at half time , but in the end were unlucky to have lost, as they dominated most of the second half . witham started the game well attacking the home goal and were unfortunate not to have taken the lead as during two goal mouth scrambles they hit the post and uprights and on another two occasions the ball was cleaned off the goal line. yet against the run of play thamesmead took the lead in the 27th minute when TYRVS GORDON YOUNG stooped and headed in a harmless looking cross, and three minutes later went further ahead when withams keeper jason baker clearly fouled gordon young and RICHARD BUTLER scored from the resulting penalty , and yet another bad led to thamesmeads third goal when eamon payne headed back to baker but GORDON YOUNG nipped in between them to score a fine goal in the 48th minute of the game.
it was a good second half for witham and as the game progressed got better as the home defence was put under pressure , panicking with wild clearances but witham did eventually score when in the 73rd minute LANCE AKINS headed in from close range ,arron omand the home keeper saved shots from george cocklin and danny emmanuel shot just wide . withams second goal was beauty as RYAN CHARLES scored with a tremendous shot into the top corner from 30 yards play was held up many times as balls had to be recovered due to all those wild clearances
