with the top of this league so close and many more games to be played it was important town got themselves back to winning ways after the last two games finished in draws ,and with three games in the coming week for the first time this season town did get back to winning ways .
witham started well in this game with two goals in the first eight minutes was a dream start.straight from the kick off witham forced a corner and a shot into the crowded area was cleared off the line by aveleys paul burnett and the ball fell kindly to kris newby whos shot fiercly into the roof of the net to score on his return after a two match ban ,within only two minutes of the kick off, and the game was only eight minutes old when town doubled there lead after lewis godbold made a strong run down the left and his cross was met by danny emmanuel who fired into the net. a dream start for witham.the witham defence hel firm as aveley fought back and towns keeper martyn guest was confident in goal and made one very good save from kyle asante. although the better team witham failed to score as both paul king and kris newby shot wide when well placed ,as they continued to attack the home goal.in the 87th minute witham did score again when awarded a penalty as kris newby was bowled over and up stepped james stevens who made no mistake with the spot kick.
