In light of the postponement of all Sussex youth leagues until 31st January 2021 and the delayed return to school for some pupils, the WYFC committee has voted to delay the return to training for all teams until the week starting Monday 18th January 2021.
The thinking behind this is that it will allow for the return of everyone at once and allow for a clearer understanding of the wider situation than we have now.
Unfortunately, this also means that friendly matches must be postponed / cancelled as well. We know that this is short notice but we are sure you will appreciate that it has taken the committee a while to review and digest the current Tier 4 rules and the impact they have on our players & parents (especially as Brighton & Hove City Council are a standalone authority - not part of East or West Sussex County Councils).
At present, WYFC players that attend 5 Ways Soccer and Brighton Galaxy are able to attend the sessions on a Saturday. We will continue to work closely with our colleagues at both 5 Ways and Brighton Galaxy.
Whilst we are keen to restart our training both for the fitness and wellbeing of our players, their safety is our main priority and we feel the best course of action is to monitor the Tier 4 situation for the next two weeks and / or react to any further announcements from the Government / FA.
We will continue to update all of our players / parents regularly but in the meantime if anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact Jason Harris, Club Chairman.
We wish you all a Happy & Healthy 2021 and thank you for your patience. We look forward to welcoming you all back soon!
