This weekend we welcome South Molton back to Raleigh Park in the semi final of the Devon Junior Cup.
Withies secured the home fixture following last weekend’s comfortable 36-05 win against Exeter Saracens in a game that was unexpectedly moved to Raleigh Park last minute following Storm Noa’s rain leaving Exhibition Fields waterlogged. Tries from Jack Fear, Archie Symons, George Doughty, Tom Cooke, Joe Blyth and man of the match Ben Bolwell helped Withy along to their position back at Raleigh Park this week.
With three wins out of three in the cup so far, Withy will be going into this game with an air of confidence; however, they will also remember that, of the three games, it was our game against South Molton in the opening round that proved the biggest test, with the Unicorns almost completing a second half comeback with three unanswered tries. Withies’ defence held out when it mattered though and eventually went on to win with a tight final score of 19-17.
Having not played since that game, South Molton will go into the game refreshed and ready to level-out the playing form having won one and lost two against us this season. Withies will go into the game with some rhythm and momentum with back-to-back matches, plus with the knockout stages of the cup allowing for two extra players, have managed to further bolster the squad with the addition of both strength upfront and speed at the back since our last meeting at the start of the month.
With only one team making it to the final, it’s all to play for this Saturday – and we can’t wait!
We’ve got the matchday 22, all we need is you to join us and lend your support to the boys in the search for silverware this season!
The game kicks off at 2:30pm from Raleigh Park, so let’s pack the park and make this a huge one!
