This Saturday, we welcome Tavistock to Raleigh Park for round 7 of the Counties 2 Devon league.
With just 5 games to go until the halfway point of the season, the league structure is forming nicely with the Withies sat in fourth on 20pts. Sitting atop the table currently are our visitors this week, whose current unbeaten run has awarded them the maximum 30pts available to them; most recently coming away with a convincing 51-5 win at home to tenth-placed Devonport Services 2nd XV.
Last weekend whilst on the road in South Devon; Withy came away with a 14-21 win against Brixham in a game where uncontested scrums set the pace of play, levelling the two sides on the day. Despite this, tries from Lewis Vaughan, Luke Davis and a penalty try alongside two additional conversions from Harry Symons were enough to come away with the points against the Crusaders.
Back to this weekend though and games against Tavistock are usually action-filled and an enjoyable watch with both sides using their home advantages well - most evident in our results last season with both sides winning their home fixtures.
With some good performances so far this season, Withy can expect a tough challenge when the Moorlands come to town, but with home advantage and some great strengths of their own too, they have the potential to upset Tavi’s unbeaten run… so make sure you come on down and catch all the action!
As ever, your support is as important as it is appreciated, and we’d love to see you down and be that all-important “16th man”. The clubhouse will be open from 12:30pm with the game kicking off at 2:30pm.
