This Saturday, the boys take to the road and head for Mid Devon to face North Tawton in the next round of the Counties 2 Devon League.
With last week’s enthralling, final-minute win against Honiton still fresh in the minds of the players, they’ll be ready and raring to go again!
With tries from Callum Tose, Chris Gibbons, Bryn Cresswell and Tom Cooke, as well as an additional ten points from Tom’s boot, Withy make it two wins from three games and sit fourth at this early stage in the competition on 11pts.
Following their most recent game last week, our hosts are still without a win this season after losing 36-13 in Plymouth against Devonport Services IIs, currently putting them in twelfth in the table.
As previously mentioned though, it’s still early in the season and with teams still settling into the new-look league, anything is possible with just a single result making a noticeable difference in the standings.
We last met back in March of this year where the points were shared 12-12 after late drama saw North Tawton score an added time try to draw the match.
We’re looking forward to another exciting game again tomorrow, but hopefully this time with a less tense conclusion! The boys will need to work hard to make sure of this though as the hosts will no doubt be on top form in the search for their first win of the season.
We’re welcoming back some familiar faces into the side this weekend, too so we’re excited to see how the boys get on!
Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 3pm from Taw Meadow in North Tawton. As ever, your support is hugely appreciated and certainly has made the difference so far this season so please do try to come along and cheer the boys on.
