This weekend we’re heading East to take on Honiton in our rearranged round 13 match of the 2022/23 season.
With the game postponed back in December taking place this weekend, Withy will be back up-to-date and will have played the correct number of games going into the final few weeks of the season.
Each of those games are important after losing out on points over the last two weekends, most recently with a 07-24 home loss to Torquay Athletic last weekend. The result keeps Withy in 3rd place in the table, but now equal on points with Barnstaple II with 53pts.
Honiton sit 6th in the table, but currently hold a 2-game advantage over the majority of the 5 teams above them. Last weekend, they were 38-16 winners at home to North Tawton.
When we hosted Honiton at Raleigh Park back in September, Withy came back from being 15-28 down after an hour with 15 unanswered points in the final quarter, including a 79th minute penalty to win the game 30-28. This close game shows the close nature of our two sides where there’s usually a decent, competitive battle.
With every point now key in maintaining a decent position on the league standings, we can hope to see a cracking game of rugby this weekend and although there are still the usual injury problems causing some slight selection headaches, the Withy coaching team have still managed to field a full 18 players with a healthy mix of speed and strength to make this a game not to be missed!
The game kicks off at 2:30pm from Alhallows Playing Fields in Honiton (EX14 1QW). As ever, we’d love to see and hear you giving your support to the boys in green and black!
