Withy see out the year still hunting that elusive win after another closely fought battle in the South Hams.
Withy continued their trend of early control, with Tom Parker slotting two penalties inside the opening 10 minutes.
Ivybridge found their footing in the game, making the most of the flow of play to get ahead with two tries before the half-hour mark.
Withies responded promptly, and with some time on the ball recycled well to create space for Matt Edworthy to score. Parker’s conversion topped up the points to make it 12-13 at the break.
The hosts got themselves back in the lead just three minutes into the second half with a try under the posts.
Withycombe dealt with the try well and soon made tracks back up into their opponents’ 22’. With a scrum in a good position, Cooper Love broke away to score and close the gap down to a single point.
The hosts extended their lead with a penalty, but this was soon cancelled out by Withies as a powerful break from Joe Oates was passed out to Ben Dawson who dotted down under the posts for a 7-point score.
Two minutes later, the lead changed hands once again with a fourth Ivybridge try in the corner of the field.
Withy battled hard to take back the lead but were unable to cross the whitewash again.
The final score Ivybridge II 29, Withycombe 25.
