This weekend, we make the journey down to South Devon to play Dartmouth in round three of the Tribute Devon 1 League.
After two matches, the boys sit atop the table in an promising, albeit early, position. Coming away from last week’s 24-8 win at home to Old Technicians, Head Coach, Sam Williams said “Whilst this wasn't the fluent performance that we hoped for we showed great resilience to maintain composure with the game in the balance for long periods. Once again the bench added real energy to the performance, with Eugene Badenhorst and Luke Davis making significant impacts. Most pleasing was the clarity of thought and return to the processes that we have been working in order to score in the dying seconds to gain the 4 try bonus point.”
The boys will be looking to take these comments on board and implement any changes from this week's training to put together an all-round performance as they meet Dartmouth for the first time in many seasons.
As for our hosts, they currently sit third in the league with a good 26-7 win in their opening match with Totnes and a 19-19 draw last week away at Buckfastleigh.
As with most of the teams this season, the Withy Boys will need to be ready for anything as each team is an unknown and we need to be ready to expect some tough opposition and with both teams showing early signs of a good season ahead we should be promised another great game of rugby!
Tomorrow's game kicks off at 3pm at the Dartmouth Leisure Centre (TQ6 0JL for those relying on Satnavs!) We hope to see as many of you there to be that "16th Man" and support the boys.
