As the weekend approaches once again, we prepare to take to the road and head towards the moors to face Tavistock.
The boys will be ready and raring to go after last week’s cancelled game against Hayle. With the walkover result, we get the 5 points which keeps us in the mid-table crowd and sees us within four points of 7th placed Veor (40pts) and our hosts Tavistock (38pts). With the three of our teams so closely matched and exchanging positions with each result, each week it’s important to perform well and pick up the points wherever possible, especially when playing one of the other three sides!
Tavistock regained their place ahead of us with a convincing 41-26 win at home to Saltash last week and a tight 37-34 loss away to Plymstock Albion Oaks the week before where they came away with both a 4-try and a losing bonus point.
When the two sides met back in October in round 6, it was Withy that took the honours with a 17-5 win with an early Tom Cooke penalty and converted tries from Liam Cullen and Sam Warren in a busy first half down the field. In a more settled second half, it was the Moorlanders’ Richard Cann who got the only score down at Brook End.
Withies will want to make the most of the week’s rest and get the early points on again and look for the win to retake that 8th place in the league. It’s all to play for!
Saturday’s game kicks off at the usual time of 2:30pm from Sandy Park in Tavistock (PL19 0JL) and we hope to see as many of you there to lend your support to the boys.
For those that can’t come down, updates will be available through social media or on this page
