The home side dominated from the KO putting Withy under continuous pressure in their own half for a prolonged period. Withycombe were dogged and determined in defense absorbing and thwarting all of Taunton's efforts. The hard work in defense slowly paid off with probing attacks by With into the oppositions half. This was finally rewarded with a Matt Rye try just before the break following some good recycled ball.

Withycombe's momentum continued following the break with fierce attacking play. A fantastic team effort by all saw Ben Wilkinson dart in to increase the score line early on in the second half. The game remained very tight and Taunton soon replied. Withy hit back with further ferocious attacking play on the the home sides try line. Matt Rye bustled over for his second of the day following a dubious disallowed effort by Matt Edworthy plucking the ball from the back of a well worked ruck. Withycombe kept their heads after a further try from Taunton brought the scores to a very close 2 tries to 3. Will Cornish was finally rewarded with one of his trade mark storming runs, casting aside tackle attempts to finish the game well and truly in Withycombe's favour.

A great game of very well competed rugby against a well drilled opposition with Withycombe's all round concentration and determined play paying off in the end.
