L Withycombe 7 : Taunton 45

Withycombe came unstuck against a very well drilled and competitive Taunton who arrived in avenging mood after losing at home to the boys earlier in the season. In difficult cold, wet and windy conditions on a very muddy pitch Taunton dominated throughout the first half going in to the break 4 tries up.

The second half proved to be a similar affair but saw Withycombe slowly get their act together despite continued pressure from the visitors. Will Cornish was notable for scoring a good individual effort spinning out of several Taunton tackle attempts to land a consolation try for the Withies. Finn Musgrove was also very combative at scrum half getting quick ball away and strong tackling.

Unfortunately the playing conditions seemed to get the better of the boys on the day, "freezing" in front of an opposition who were not bothered in the same way. A challenging encounter that will be best remembered as a character building experience. Some good individual displays but not the best team effort of recent weeks.
