Withy U13s bounced back from last weeks defeat with a well deserved victory over Exeter Youth at Bicton College. Withy opened brightly taking the game to the visitors. Good switching play through various sets of hands soon saw Matt Rye bursting down the left flank to land the first try. Exe responded well with their own well worked equaliser. Continued good play then saw Withy new boy Matt Shaw-Smith at centre score the first of 3 of tries displaying very fast running from deep to outstrip the visitors defence.

A good first half performance to dominate Exeter scoring 4 tries to 2 HT score 24: 12 to Withies.

The second half was a more balanced affair with Exeter testing the excellent Withycombe defence for long periods. Despite this Withy scored early first with another fine run from Shaw- Smith to complete his hatrick. The visitors bagged a consolation try at the very end.

A great all round performance from the boys to record their first ever victory over Exeter Youth who have always provided tough opposition. Withy played with a renewed level of intensity that was at times too much for Exe to cope with, particularly at the break down to recycle the ball out wide through the hands to make useful ground. Some unlucky handling could have resulted in a higher scoring margin.
