Bennett grabs five trys in solid win

Withycombe U13's entertained Cullompton last Sunday, and were the victors by ten try's to four.
In dry, cool, sunny conditions that were perfect for rugby and both sides went at each other from the start.
The young Withys, who were certainly a lot smaller than their counterparts, sprang out of the blocks, and ran the ball at pace from all parts of the pitch. The larger Cully boys could not live with the speed of passing from the Green and Blacks, as they raced in for seven trys in quick succession.
Winger Charlie Passmore opened the scoring with a try out wide after slick handling. On the other wing Harry Bennett showed some class finishing, with four first half trys, again benefitting from fine hands in the Withy backline.
The forwards them rucked and mauled their way to the line and Max Wilkinson finished off to dot down.
Full Back Jack Draper scored next when he collected a kick ahead from Cully and raced through a gap to the line.
The pace of the game could not last and as the Withy boys tired Cully's forwards began to take a stranglehold in the loose. They used their larger strike runners to create numerous chances, although great defence by Withys kept them down to only one try in the first half.
Half time Withycombe 35- Cullompton 5.
The second half began as the first half ended. The large Cullompton pack outmuscled Withy for large periods, and kept the game tight. Withycombe were guilty of too many missed tackles and this led to them having to defend for large periods.
In turn, however whenever they got their hands on the ball the Green and Blacks ran the ball wide. This made for a very even contest, which showed in the three trys apiece in the half. Winger Max Richards capped a fine all round display with a pacy try out wide. Centre Alfie Gillard, who ran, passed, and tackled well all game got a well deserved try. Bennett also capped a strong day at the office with his fifth try.
Others standing out on the day were Number 8 James Griffin with some strong runs, Henry Bragg returning after injury looked confident at Fly half, and Olly Hempstead ran himself into the ground at scrum half.
Cullompton played their part in an entertaining match, and gave the young Withys a real test.
