Wivey started the liveliest against Weston at Plain Pond on a sunny November afternoon, conditions were perfect for running rugby, both teams showing their intent with early breaks. Charlie Sharland opened the score with a fine individual score when he powered up the wing to score in the corner, Ben Luxton added the conversion. Wivey added three more when Ben Luxton converted a penalty. Wivey looked lively around the park and Lawrence Priest scored two great tries out wide, William Thorne added another out wide after a lovely passage of play from the forwards, Lawrence Priest converted from wide to take a 27-0 lead. Unfortunately the team were reduced to 14 when prop Oli Greenway was forced from the field with an injury. Weston took full advantage of the extra man and scored just before the halftime whistle, 27-7 at halftime.
Weston showed great character to come back in the second half playing some great rugby, making the most of the extra player, scored two converted tries, the match was taken to the wire when Weston scored yet another try, but the conversion narrowly missed, Wivey holding a slender 27-26 lead.
The Wivey lads rallied well and got themselves deep into Weston territory, a great line out take, developed into a ruck and the ever alert Oli Hale spotted a gap in the Weston defence and scampered over to stretch Wiveys lead, much to the Wivey supporters relief, Ben Luxton added the conversion. This was a hard fought match where both sets of lads showed real determination. Wivey held on to win 34-26.
