After a competitive start and with pressure mounting, Woking won their first short corner. Capitalised by one of the Ming brothers, who exactly? No one is sure. Or did Alex Curry turn up?
The high intensity start soon came back to bite Woking as Henley started to turn the tide and gain momentum. Coming from nothing Henley won a sideline in the corner which was dribbled past two of Woking defenders and passed into the D. Unfortunately, in Craig’s attempt to clear, he passed the ball to a Henley forward who slotted the ball into an empty net. At half time, the score was 1-1.
Woking bucked up their ideas and started well in the second half. More corners were won but unfortunately Tim could not convert. Gonzalo was taken down, but this weekend he didn’t bite off more than he could chew. The resulting short corner was well executed by Cockers and Alex Curry meaning Woking would take the lead once again. As the game opened up, more cards were awarded, notably to Henley’s player following a loud spectator’s provocation. Unfortunately, Henley clawed one back through a lucky deflection.
The full time whistle was blown ending the game at 2-2 and a point apiece. Special mentions must go out to Mike Emes for his 1XI debut. Woking felt they should have got more but look forward to a hard week of training with lots to work on and excited for the challenges that lie ahead in Bournemouth next week.
