Match Report

Woking U12s v Camberley & Farnborough U12s: Won 4-0
This afternoon we played Camberley & Farnborough HC in the 11-a-side Hampshire league. Having lost their previous 11-a-side game, the boys were keen to get back to winning ways.
Woking started strongly having the bulk of possession in period 1 and the first goal came from a cross from the left by Dan Q which went through the D and was met cleanly by Sam B on the right with a slap shot straight into the back of the net. Woking continued to press and played much of the remaining period in the attacking half but they failed to finish off a number of good positioning plays.

Period 2 carried on where we left off and a second goal came from a Sam B cross from the goal line, which was deflected in by Dan Q at the left post area. Again, Woking had the bulk of the possession but a couple of off target short corners meant we failed to capitalise on chances.

In Period 3 we mixed things up a bit and played Alec in central midfield, where he scored early on from another short corner, although this was after a bit of scrappy play in the D that Woking eventually finished off. Camberley & Farnborough had a bit more possession this period and attacked through the middle, but some strong defending from Sam B / Akhil & Miguel prevented any real danger occurring. As we continued to press forward, Joseph made some lovely runs down the right and combined well with Alec and Ollie H. After some good defending by the opposition, Joseph found himself in the centre of the D and scored a lovely aerial hit past their keeper into the back of the net.

All the players deserve praise as it was a well fought victory where everyone played their part. Woking could have scored more but it was a solid performance and got the team back to winning ways. I think they all enjoyed it, so well done the boys. Well done also to Ollie C who played his first 11-a-side game in goal and kept a clean sheet.

Thanks again to Gihan for umpiring and to Chris Clayton-Jones who helped me with the substitutes.
